The aim of the project was to develop an area in an old factory milieu into a versatile and lively neighborhood that plays with the characteristics of the area and has a strong identity. The plan consists of core quarters and a housing circle surrounding them. The core is urban whereas the circle more has a more natural feel to it. The division is repeated in the material choices of the buildings. The brick buildings in the circle and the old factory form a whole that surrounds the urban core, which is softened by fan-like environmental art. There are many routes in the core area, making it a versatile environment for pedestrians, rich with opportunities. Connections between the core and the green circle tie the area’s different components together. Long vistas towards the old factory at the entrances of the area make the factory a dominant element for the whole area, strengthening the neighborhood’s identity.
