“Combination of a public concert hall and a music learning environment.”

CASE Tampere Music Academy Extension

The competition entry consists of a tower-like extension and a connecting one-story section. ‘The Tower’ is a compact and organized machine with a rational floor plan, built on a sloping site. The concert hall and ‘the Black Box’ form a heart-like center inside the building. The toned ceramic poles of the exterior get their inspiration from the brick exterior of the existing Music Academy forming a coherent whole. In the extension, the lobby is situated above ground level, which opens up a fascinating view over Pyynikki neighborhood.
